Slow Fade

patchwork promises and peace

pretensions paint by number dreams

pieces that still remain of me

and what’s hidden in between

untangled eccentricities

collecting shares of what might be

a paramedic’s project preened

to eliminate our sins

deliberate doses designed to heal

a broken system drives the will

separating us from what is real

too numb to express what we feel

here and there and back again

lost in the can you still remember when

confusing life and death events

with what is actually happening

calendars to marks the dates

while we watch the time just slip away

what does it matter anyway

as we settle into the the slowest fade
