SLOTH

the terrible feeling, and after-feeling, of rotting online

By angela hepworthPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

sloth

head, pulse and throb

eyes, heavy and red

glazed over from the screen

this mind death

chews and gnaws at me

this poison seeping in

sloth

lost in a sea of fog

of faces, voices, all unknown

a future miles and leagues away

overworked and undersold

why should I return

when anything I’d ever want,

everything I’ve ever known,

is here?

sloth

nothing, nowhere, all the time

screentime for breakfast and lunch

tossing, turning, crying crimes

hedonism sucker-punch

sloth

stagnation, glorious temptation,

almost make it feel okay—

feeding trash into my brain

to keep these (rotted)

feelings at bay

I will disappear—

decay

sloth
