Loneliness in company as fine is fair as fair is fowl
Empty rooms where worn out tunes echo a hollow howl
Soulless shoes and knipped heels bruised from walking after midnight
Lived in bars and crashed in cars turned over in the sunlight
Aleppo was so long ago
But I’ve found comfort in the snow
And freezing feels a lot less numb than smothering in embers
So I’ll slip back beneath the waves and wait for a November
When the sun withdraws its glare
To reveal what’s buried there
Between who we haven’t been and what we’ve chosen to remember
