Don’t look, is what they want us to do,
In the moment they say “look!”
Sleight of hand they have perfected
To not see what they don’t want us to see they make us.
Rolling their hands away from what we should see
Acting as though they feel intensely
Caring if schools are safe and our neighborhoods thrive.
Today we listen to them hopeful
In the ballot we give them our vote
Only for them to be the same same ones.
Now, when will we stop falling for their tricks?

Oh that definitely is a well crafted distraction! Loved your poem!
There is a phrase "No matter who you vote for the government always gets in" and all governments are in the pockets of corporate money. Politicians like Benn, Corbyn, and Sanders are destroyed by the media and the electorate follows their line. Excellent words and am sure a Top Story
