Sleepless

A Familiar Torment

I am so filled with this untamed

Sadness

I cannot place it or name it or

Chase it away and it

Haunts

My darkest hours

To make it so I

Cannot sleep

Or move to kinder thoughts

And I've tried to seek refuge

In others

Or liquor

When I cannot succumb

To the numbness of nothing,

For even the grief of my

Dreams

I will forgive

If they would only take the place

Of this waking torment.
