Skipping Stones

Day 6 of 365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

All the people in glass houses

are stacking towers

of rocks to throw

typing on their keyboards

with their pitchfork fingers

making shadows out of

dirt from decades ago

So I wander to the river

with my own rocks in my hands

on them I've carved words of love

and stacked them gently in the sand.

I toss them in the water

to see how far "hope" will go

and watch the water dance in circles

it's so much better skipping stones
