Skinning the Sunday Chicken

A true story, told in haiku

I am disgusted.

Slimy slabs of chicken parts

wait, hunched, for my knife.

*

Off with skin and fat!

Greasy hands freckle with blood.

Another thigh done.

*

Grandmother bustles.

I dwaddle, hoping she'll say,

"Here, let me do it ..."

About the Creator

Sonia Heidi Unruh

I love: my husband and children; all who claim me as family or friend; the first bite of chocolate; the last blue before sunset; solving puzzles; stroking cats; finding myself by writing; losing myself in reading; the Creator who is love.
