Sistah Moon, Brother Sun

A hug In Eclipse

Early morning dawned and Brother Sun peered out across the celestial sky, drinking in the beauty and harmony of the beginning of a new day.

Carefully hidden behind a fair cloud, Sistah Moon yearned for a warm hug. Espying Brother Sun, she fancied and desired the warmest hug of all

Lunar slowly glided towards Solar. Moon's orbital plane drew closer to the plane of Earth's orbit, aligning for a total eclipse.

In retrospect, Moon never considered the implications of her embracing Brother Sun...She just needed warmth and love.

Perfectly circular orb that they are, Sistah Moon thought it a completely natural phenomenon, that she could hug Bother Sun

Such unequivocal peace and absolute warmth overcame her. She was content. "Sistah, I am happy to hug you, but the world has gone dark".

Eventually, Sistah Moon let go. She decided that the warmth of the joy she felt, and the happiness on the faces of the beings below, totally eclipsed her faux pas. Strangely, they quite enjoyed a bit of darkness.

I have been taking your profile content to heart of late ("Every new day is a blank slate. Write something new.") Finally getting back to reading a bit instead of writing and writing. Glad I popped my head up for this one.

    Beautiful poem. Nicely done.

  • Well-wrought! We fear the darkness sometimes unnfairly, where it can soothe our pangs rather obscure danger. Your acrostic did a good job of relaying that!

  • Oh wow, you told such a beautiful story in the form of an Acrostic! I loved it!

Apologies, but I kept think of the religious film as I read this. Have you seen this?

Sistah, are you sure you're not from Boston?

Hi Novel I love this! I find the short Acrostic difficult because I’m drawn to a narrative. And you absolutely deliver. I know how we all read our own work endlessly as we edit until complete. And I’m sorry to quote so much of this piece back to you. But imagine you reading this as if written by another. Maybe your response would be WOW! And you’d read it 3 times like I have. Thank you for publishing. ‘Such unequivocal peace and absolute warmth overcame her. She was content. "Sistah, I am happy to hug you, but the world has gone dark". Eventually, Sistah Moon let go. She decided that the warmth of the joy she felt, and the happiness on the faces of the beings below, totally eclipsed her faux pas. Strangely, they quite enjoyed a bit of darkness.‘ I have written a short and a long form. The long form is below if you’d like a Read! Hey Brilliant Novie! What an elegant & beautiful masterpiece! Just curious... what prompted Sistah to need that hug so badly? Was it all the hate that she witnesses on earth?

  • A well-crafted story for a poem, you never disappoint😊

You turned this into a brilliant story.

  • Mystically great take on the challenge, and I love the image
