SINKING DOWN DOWN A BIG DARK HOLE
Into the darkest place in my depression

SINKING DOWN DOWN A BIG DARK HOLE
I'm sinking down down a big dark hole
Where nobody can see
The person that I used to know
Or what became of me
I hear the world above me
Their laughter and their cries
But nobody can hear the pain
Behind my tired eyes
I try to climb the darkness
But every stone gives way
And all the little hopes I had
Keep slipping day by day
They tell me just be happy
There's sunshine everywhere
But how can I explain to them
The darkness living there
I wear a smile for strangers
And tell them I'm alright
Then fall apart in silence
When day becomes the night
My thoughts become my enemies
They never let me rest
And every little worry
Becomes another test
I wonder if they notice
How quiet I've become
How sometimes just surviving
Takes everything from someone
I don't want all their answers
Or words that sound so wise
I only need somebody
To see behind my eyes
Then somewhere in the darkness
A little voice called through
It said you don't have to climb alone
There's someone here for you
I'm still inside that big dark hole
But now a hand holds mine
And though I cannot see the sun
I know it's somewhere shining
