Single Slipper
Photo by Alexandre Tsuchiya on Unsplash

A single slipper sways by a string

From a branch in a gentle forest

Pieces of moments left behind

As evidence of the traveled soil before me

Visions of a woman throwing her shoe in play

Or a man catching an adventurous climber

As she falls from the tree

Being sadly parted from her shoe

Possible slivers of ripped away innocence

Like something taken without permission

One never knows what the future or past truly holds

In fear of which fate may linger around the next bend

I sometimes wonder

The day I come upon something quite rare

Will my curiosity fall when needed or peak to my passing?
