Silent Scars

It wasn’t me

She stepped softly from the saddle

until her feet sagely met the ground

Weakened from the weight of the day

the war was not over.

Safely tethered to the earth

her curiosity peaked

As wind tousled through

the stark, rainbow mane.

She found no resolve

from the miry ground.

She opened her eyes

with compassion

For the world

outside of her own

As she guided her hands

under the translucent veil

Fostered by vibrant strands

she realized

She had slowly wiped away the debris

that could not be seen.

Trust was mended

as both became whole

Shared memories left them silent

and true love was found.
