Shh..You have the right to be silent

Photo by Kristina Flour on Unsplash

I took a pill of silence.

Hid it under my tongue but never swallowed it.

I refuse to speak because I'm in my cone of silence.

I share my ideas to myself.

I have conversations with myself.

I have no friends.

I have no one to trust but myself.

I trust myself.

But I stay silent.

I don't raise my hand when I know the answer to the question.

I don't talk with my classmates.

They're not my friends.

I hate being stuck in the silence.

I hate keeping secrets to myself.

Not knowing that somebody will find out.

I hide in darkness but I struggle to come the light.

Shhh. Silence.

No talking. Your teacher says stop talking.

I’m the teacher I say “No talking.”

Let’s take a moment of silence.

To remember how we were silent.

Shhhh. You have the right to be silent.

I want to get out of the silence.

I can't get out of this silence.

I'm trapped like a prisoner.

My silence is my prison guard

Locked me away from my voice.

I am irate I want to scream

Shh. No.

No way I don't want to be silent anymore.

Oh no! I'm lowered like a volume.

Muted. Silent.

Silent like a tiny mouse

An unexpected visitor

Crawling around the silent floor

Standing on the mousetrap

Snap! Dead laying on the snapped trap

Dead silence

Shh. It's dead.

Dead and quiet.

Why am I silent?

I don't want to keep quiet

I'm trapped

Dead trapped in my own silence.

Shh. Silence...
