Silence Is A Language

Notes on leaving the playground

By Ms Jade Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

I want to hear. But you hide— every silent answer speaking a language I don’t want to learn. It would have been better had the vague whispers stayed an absence of sound. It should not have been relayed in welcome, inviting an audience, existing for vanity. Had there been an exchange shared in transparency— with egos unattached— it would have survived to adulthood. Yet the playground bears witness to hide-and-seek, or the game of silence. The winner continues to be the only player having fun. There is a clear, incorruptible truth that lives: To be the bigger person, one must ignore the frivolous games. Respect.
