Sides of September

Here... and gone

Daylight and nighttime fight for prominence

while the veil thins between dimensions.

Summer eventually yields its dominance

allowing Fall to make its ascension.

Green flora prepare for their yearly slumber,

vast hues of brilliance take their place

in shades of orange and gold and umber,

As the previous season abates.

Along with the glorious sights unfolding

we reflect on lives and innocence lost;

the 11th, a time of mournful tolling;

an entire nation charged with the cost.
