Sick

A poem about a neglectful past relationship.

By Maddy NewtPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read
I'll figure it out.

Sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Ignoring it usually works, why hasn't it worked?

Let me go to bed, I don't care anymore, why can't my brain turn off?

Escaping at night would be foolish, I'm too tired, too hurt, too angry.

Never interested in me, never awake, never excited, never patient...

Can't sleep, can't leave, can't think, can't shake these thoughts out!

Enough. I'll lay down and be quiet. Tomorrow's a new day.
