Siamese Twins

On Desire and Repulsion

You loved all of that

you loved my big words

and getting lost in them

as they spilled from my lips

you were enchanted

and you got what you said you wanted

and here I am

but, now you want something else

and my words irritate you

and now you want someone

who is more

something

something other

other than who I am

but isn't that always the way?

that the things

we say we desire

turn out to be

the things that get under our skin

the things that repulse us

the things we come to hate

and we reluctantly realise

that desire and repulsion

are Siamese twins.
