Shush Demons

Inspired by "The Fall of The House of Usher"

How do I break this curse

I’ve burned the walls down

Destroyed what I could

But still it lingers

The putrid stench of the disease following me everywhere

I am haunted by ancestors unknown to me

Desperate ghosts clinging to the false hope of freedom

How are their lessons learned

If I never listen

Even though I know I ought to

Because otherwise I am doomed to repeat the mistakes of their pasts

And I will be the next to wither away

Then rot in the cold, damp ground

Haunting the poor soul who comes next

Still, I never listen
