Shroominations on the Afterlife

Contributing to the cycle of life

By K.B. Silver Published 6 months ago 1 min read

Finally crawled from the

screaming sea

the moist earth gave

beneath my knees

Unable to pass

a singing fungal colony

I unsheathed my

blade ~~~ ringing in the

ROARING silence of the

shaded ocean cave

I flickingly / excised the

spongey gift and

marveled, each its own

drawn deeper

into the cavern

they swirled

escaped

Waves crashed

splashing my back

as I worked and

fruiting bodies

strewn about the

trodden dirt floor

microscopic growths

floating on

musty air

For the first time, I

notice two mysterious

wooden doors

thankfully, I thought

I've harvested far too much,

maybe I can store some

in this convenient hutch

Not so, for you see

they were full to capacity

assaulting me

with pounds of shrooms

Crushed beneath their ponderous

weight my life stamped out

by myco-freight

I’m now rich nutritious substrate

reanimated mushroom feed

I walk these tunnels, haunt the halls

moldered and assimilated

forever more a
