I had to raise my voice,
in hopes somehow you’d hear me.
You were always just waiting
for your turn to talk.
I crawled inside myself
until I erupted like a zombie from the grave.
I became the monster,
the villain in your story.
I kept digging myself,
six feet under,
just to get out from under you.
I’m weighed down by your expectations,
yet you never lend a hand to lift me.
You watch me sink into despair
and tell me it was all my fault.
You’re the one applying brick by brick,
to help me sink even deeper.
You’ve kept me in the dark so long,
the light burns my eyes anyway.
