Shine Underwater

Meant to Stay

Do you feel this place isn’t yours

that it holds voices, souls

that have nothing to say

to your heart?

What if you listened close,

added the whispers in the wind

sounded the chimes,

of love and memories

to help you understand

the words from long ago

that set spirits in tune

with what was and can be

each time you blink,

with every breath?

***

You make a place your own

each wall can learn

to react, and to know

your touch, your paces

your voice,

the songs that keep heart content

while your smile will light up

a house

in fireplaces of remembrance,

no embers lost

in regrets or contempt.

***

This place is yours,

it’s starting to know you

it understands

your fears, qualms, the daily struggles

that make you want to give up

on the things

that hurt other hearts

on your way.

***

Compassion, empathy,

the drops of tolerance

will fulfill destiny

and your fate will not lead you

to crossroads of deception

if you help travelers

find their way

in the fog.

***

Your help will be returned

trusting hands will reach out

to protect you from plunging

in sorrowful abyss,

to keep you safe from storms

that take away your will

to live in sunshine.

***

Each time you stop to aid, encourage

and make wishes come true,

you strengthen your own goals,

desires that become

reality from mist

away from mirages

of false laughter and critics.

***

Share the light you have now,

it will come back

to lift you from the gray

of days of trials

when you think

there’s no hope left in mazes

of anger, disappointment.

***

The light will shine to guide you,

to meet souls that received

affection and compassion

in past days.

Now they surround you

in hopeful embrace

teaching you there is always

a new dawn

in a world

of connected hearts

and spirits afloat.

***

Ocean of dreams,

sea of belonging,

trying too hard to win

could get you lost.

Trust intuition, imagination,

let spirits do the mapping

tread confidently

when you hear love’s song

it knows you from today,

yesterday

and it will help you trust

in tomorrow.
