The poet used to go

to the beach

every morning

the curious people asked him

what he was doing on the beach

he was wandering in the sunrise

he spoke with the sea breeze or even recited poems

or maybe write something between two waves

the poet answered

that he was building

a sand fortress

a fortress they wondered

laughing to themselves

one day though

the poet returned home

sad

the sea

might have knocked down his building

the others thought

the guards wouldn’t let me

enter the fortress

the poet said

while just like in a sandglass

his fingers let

the last grains of sand

flow
