She Speaks in Colors

a love language to my ancestors

By Ko LimPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I speak in colors

a love language at play

and to play is the space in which my colors live.

They tell stories and desires

struck by awe and curiosity.

Words can’t always find me

in such presence like golden hour.

May I delight you with these color musings?

I am the many shades of my ancestors' blood

a pallet of my motherland.

Deep reds of chili paste and hibiscus rose

softening their hues.

I am made of that same red

and fresh blooms of cherry blossom pink.

Cascades of lilac cream puffs

floating a mist peach marmalade sunsets.

A shade of mystery with a mythical tone

I am a living poem

and my colors speak through me.
