She Rides The Tides Of Life
The good, the bad and the crazy devastation
The rain washes away her sin,
Her past mistakes and her regrets,
Newly birthed with her lessons in tact,
Learned but she never forgets.
***
The sun paints her skin in a glowing bronze,
Energising her youthful demeanour,
Healthily beautiful in her smile,
Leaving behind her past, her history cleaner.
***
The wind wipes the cobwebs from her thoughts,
Forgiving of her pessimistic voices,
Meditating on the beautiful chorus,
Shelving her more disdainful choices.
***
The fog shelters her from the harshness of the world,
Allowing her silence and peace,
The ability to live and love alone,
While taming her emotions and taking time for her tears to cease.
***
The winter cold toughens her resilience,
Freezes her worries in time,
She hibernates behind the winter snow,
Dissolving in her belief and memories of her greatest crime.
***
The tidal phases remind her of the passing of the years,
Romanticising her favourite recollections,
Internal photographs only she can arrange,
Pinpointing the ones that change her life’s directions.
***
The moon mesmerises her heart,
As she converses her monthly phases,
Time held in the palm of her hands,
As it builds her pedestal on which she raises.
***
The thunderstorm thrashes about in her anguish,
As she takes a tighter control on the reins,
She harnesses the power, the mighty strength,
Until she needs to let loose her greatest, soul destroying hurricane.
***
Her day to day up and downs make up her life,
The good, the bad and the crazy devastation,
She rides the waves, controls in hand,
Fighting throughout the entire duration.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
