She No Longer Kneels To Any Master

Especially not the master of attachment

She insists on her circle staying small

And there’s definitely a reason for this,

She’s not looking for pain or even fear

Walking away from deceit’s fateful kiss.

***

She keeps those she loves at arms length

Never allowing them to get too close to her,

She’s well aware that at the turn of the tide

You can go from lover to hateful saboteur.

***

She firmly believes attachment is a liability

The cause of severe pain, making you cry,

She’s done her time and paid for her crime

So she will allow you to kiss her goodbye.

***

Attachment is just another sordid master

And she is done kneeling to such a kind,

There’s not a master who is at all deserving

Of any form of sick adoration in her mind.

***

If she calls you a friend, she is always there

If you are in need, she will do all she can,

Her shirt off her back, her last fifty cents

If you’re hurt or beaten, she’ll make a stand.

***

But let me tell you, do not cross her at all

Never manipulate her or use strong force,

I promise you will not like the consequences

She’ll rip you from her soul with no remorse.

***

Remember well where it is she calls home

That the universe made her is well known,

But it’s the devastating underworld below

That has taught her to survive on her own.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
