SHE MAY BE ALONE
(I wrote this about an elderly widow (Edna) who lived down the street. Her attitude was such an inspiration.)
^^
She sits by the window
And stares at the street
Saying hello
To all those she sees.
^
Her hair is now silver;
Her walk has turned slow.
She's no longer alert,
But no one would know.
^
She's alone in her world
Where she spends many hours.
She talks to her kitten
And all of her flowers.
^
She has many plants
That sit on her shelf.
She doesn't feel lonely
All by herself.
^
Often the neighbors
Will take time to stop,
Ad share some tea
Brewed in her old brown teapot.
^
The stories she tells
To the boys and the girls,
Bring them ever so close
To her little world.
^
So, when you pass by
Just wave and she'll smile,
For she makes our lives nicer
Even for a short while.
