She Made a Fool of Herself

For love. She knew the lies all along

My poem on female intuition,

got an honor,

thank you, Vocal Media,

and readers.

Now some of you said,

“Is it all true?”

Yes, it is,

let me share a real-world story.

This woman led a long marital life,

never gave anybody any doubt

that she was sad and stressed,

that her husband was cheating.

Only when he died,

she opened her mouth.

She said she knew all along,

but she loved the man too.

To keep his honor,

she kept mum.

To not hurt the kids,

she kept mum.

To keep family dignity,

she kept mum.

She knew all along.

She did not need to

hear anything, or see anything,

of the infidelity.

She could sense the lies,

in his eyes, tone,

facial expressions, body language,

in the stories he fabricated.

She tolerated the dishonesty

to be in a relationship.

It was not perfect,

but it protected her from

evil patriarchy, lewd gazes.

There was food on table,

cloth on the body,

roof over the family.

She endured the pain,

for a robust reason,

call it, maternal sacrifice.

The man felt guilt and shame,

even he knew, she is aware,

she is hurting.

Weak character that he was,

he gave in to temptation, anyway.

Her intuition is not to be questioned,

she made a fool of herself,

as an act of love!!

Note: I hope, it will resonate with many of you. It's the story of many women in patriarchy society. Don't call her weak. She knew what she was doing.
