She Is so Fat

Slam Poem

“She is so fat”

They said without the slightest bat

Of an eye.

They don’t care if it makes her cry.

They just want to feel power

Every second of every hour.

Tell me how you can live

With yourself knowing that you give

Her nightmares.

All the stares,

All the whispers,

They give her blisters

That can’t be healed

For she’s put up a shield

From the rest of the world.

As she lays curled

Up in her bed,

All these thoughts drifting through her head

Are slowly killing her,

And there is no cure

Because the wounds run too deep

For her to just sweep

Away every bad thought.

She is caught

In your web of lies,

So she wears a disguise

To make the world think

That she isn’t on the brink

Of death.

With every breath,

She inhales despair

Because no one can truly repair

The brokenness of her heart.

I hope you’re happy that you were a part

Because now she feels like an ugly rat

All just because you called her fat.
