She is a Rose

(But Roses Have Thorns)

She is a rose.

She is Love, and in it’s most authentic form, rarely fully understood or appreciated.

She is delicate and fragile, although this doesn’t undermine her beauty, nor her existence. Do not take her for granted.

She is beautiful, even when the physical beauty fades away, for the memories and feelings she leaves behind will forever stay.

She becomes more beautiful through her growth. To blossom and grow really is such a breathtaking, magical phenomenon.

She is a rose.

One in the same in so many ways, but she refuses to simply be a cliché.

SHE IS A ROSE

She may be a rose,

but she isn’t just ANY rose.

She will NEVER be a mere replica, for masterpieces can never be duplicated.

She is a beautiful, mysterious black rose.

She understands that beauty can also be found in darkness, and has finally learned to accept her own.

And she feels beautiful again.

And she is learning to start loving herself again.

And she EXISTS again. She always did, but existence is merely an illusion until you EXIST within its space.

Amidst the delicate beauty of the blossoming flower, there also exists thorns.

She is no exception. No one is an exception.

She has learned to carefully watch out for these thorns,

both in herself and others,

as they are more painful and deep when they deliver an unexpected sting.

One that she didn’t brace for…

One that she didn’t prepare for…

One that quickly reminded her that thorns can be found amidst the most “beautiful” of flowers…

And that the beauty surrounding them didn’t diminish their power…their sting…their effect…

Such a beautiful tragedy; another oxymoron of life…

Where, then, does this less visible and misunderstood beauty lie?

Beautiful in their own way, thorns serve as an important life reminder.

Life is a beautiful thing, but it isn’t always pretty.

Wearing rose colored glasses may camouflage reality,

but it doesn’t so easily camouflage the sting it can deliver.

What is camouflaged is the beauty that lies within the ‘ugly,’

and within the lessons to be learned.

One can bleed…yet still succeed.

She is a delicately powerful embodiment of love.

She is finally comfortable in her own skin.

She is a rose.
