She Forever Seeks

Determined to find

She rolls with the punches, intrigued,

Laughing at those that wish to bring her down,

She’s comfortable with who she has grown to become,

You’ll not turn her brilliant smile into a sorrowful frown.

🔎

She waltzes the tides of the ocean,

Swimming beneath the waves in perfect synchronicity,

Riding the back of the orca whales,

Friends of the water world in its simplicity.

🔎

She flies through the clouds with the eagles,

Screeching in tune to her frustrations,

The air beneath her wings lift her higher,

As she becomes one with the universe’s vibrations.

🔎

She walks beside the leader of the wolf pack,

Conversing in tongue for their privacy,

She promises her strength, her loyalty

To his offspring and hers for all of society.

🔎

Seldom does she falter from her promises,

Attuned to the animal kingdom that runs through her veins,

In touch with humanity and the lowest of low,

Determined to hold tight to the paradoxical reins.

🔎

On days that shine brightly with the warmth of sunlight,

She traverses the hills and forests in search of her kind,

Loneliness hollow within her breasts,

Searching forever if only to find.

🔎

Weekdays are her bane of existence,

Trembling for days throughout the week,

Working harder than possible in her endeavour

To dig out and find all that she seek.

🔎

Toes curl at the thought of success,

Warmed by the essential possibilities,

Today, no, maybe tomorrow,

She’ll find all that she needs within her capabilities.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
