She went through life at first, like a moth drawn to a flame.

Atteacted to everything shiny, beautiful and dangerous.

She didn’t understand it was her very soul, her aura, which made them remember her name.

Those things about her they all missed, all while treating her carelessly while craving to possess.

She was locked into cages, tormented with the wish for freedom.

Taunted by those who did not understand her and hated her their lack of understanding.

She was different. She didn’t become bitter or angry, she continued to love and give into the oppression.

In hopes of one day receiving a fraction of the love she gave and was promised, by those who continued their deception.

Her pain and vulnerability becoming weapons in others’ hands, she slowing stopped opening up.

The desire for survival became so strong that she broke free in a final burst of rage fear.

She stayed alone because it was easier than fighting to be understood by those who didn’t hear.

She chose the opposite of what she wanted because she’d gotten tired of fighting to prove she deserved it or wanted it bad enough.

She was exhausted from trying to prove herself worthy.

She walked away because she cannot be caged and she refused to stay grounded for those unwilling to fly with her when things are rough.

She refused to be tormented for simply desiring room to breathe and live freely.

She turned her face from those who would strike her or look upon her with cruelty - enough!

Choosing to look upon a future she built in her dreams instead, She no longer shouted at those who refused to hear her whispers.

She just stayed silent because they’d never notice anyway - while she made her plans to choose a path and become ENOUGH.

In the end, she chose the path alone , because no one had ever chosen her for the sake of wanting to be hers.

And she knew they never would. So she chose herself every day.
