SHE

(and the stars)

By Scott RutledgePublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

The thought could make you cry

if it wasn't for the sky

And that hollow hope of love

she wants to be written in stars above

And she'll still drop everything

To try and fit in

to the expectations of another man

And the cycle will repeat

Cause she's still incomplete

Believing she's only half of a whole

Lonely thoughts make her cry

And she's looking to the sky

Clinging to hollow promises of love

She believes are written in the stars above

Searching for all the signs

Laid out in imaginary lines

Orbiting planets and premonitions

The moon sings songs of her past

All on par with an octave of stars

Ascending stairs crafted from night

Phantoms made flesh within beams of light

Searching for all the signs

Laid out in imaginary lines

And symbols lose all meaning over time

And the cycle will repeat

Cause she's still incomplete

Believing she's only half of a whole
