Shattered world

Survival

By Edward IannielliPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

I’m here

In a world I don’t recognize

My fear is real

My anxiety holds a tight grip

I feel I can’t breathe

I’m suffering

I’m in despair

I hold on to hope

But it’s elusive

My life is now undefined

I have no purpose

I don’t know how to survive anymore

I’m giving up

I’m losing hope

My reality shattered

I want to fight the evil forces

My jabs are just empty attempts to fight something I can’t even see

I’m blind to the harshness

I can’t summon the strength

My tears are many

My fears are real

My mind tries to hold me and ground me

My heart aches

Broken

I sit numb to the sad truth

The fight in me diminished

My eyes a 1000 yard stare into nothingness

Like a soldier shell shocked

I can’t fight anymore

I’m in too much pain

I’m on a battlefield of indecision

Of horror perpetuated by the cruelest elements I have no control over

I see everything breaking

I cry for what once was

Now a distant memory

Shattered

Gone

Never to come back

How can I live that tragic moment

My work never to get off the ground

Ended before I could do anything

My voice shaken

My life meaningless

My dreams stolen

How can I live in a shattered world
