I’ve come undone and

stand in so many pieces , tiny shards

I shattered, while I twirled

for you!

Encased in a glass cloche

you put me on a pedestal

and I piled my hair in a high coif,

holding it with

your gift,

those damnable porcelain umbrellas clips.

I twirled, my skirt swirling in -

an umbrella-like arc.

But you walked away while I dervished for you,

your back facing me.

That broke my spirit, my heart.

My legs cracked and my feet split.

I cried out for you to stop, and watch me,

all the while inching my heel closer, closer, aiming

for a smashing footfall.

Yes, the success was mine, you fool!

Your precious records split into tiny shards,

mirroring my heart.

I give a toast to you, my love, red lips you adored

tilted upward in sweet freedom, as my hair comes undone.
