Sharks in Black Tar

tendrils of oil and base

By Trent OdlinPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

sharks in the black tar

sinking in the deluded swim

join us, they say, still

years since last tick

grandfather clocks sitting in silence, border the Crimson cool

marinate, lend me your sinew in the time stew, sad soluble bases

dock, shift, spiral in your own name brand dust

Oh well! More so than must, a dying favor for man who lives forever.

Mind's eye, grant me your change, a different hand

for the man with two eyes

two ears

and seven faces

possibilities at every corner and every choice is tar,

black viscous secretions stick in adhesion,

They latch!

tendrils of oil and base, flammable, true, if room

for breath was able. Exhale! slip through the pearl gates,

merge in the tar,

powerless, an ocean

of paralytic consumption

a comet of corruption, awaiting correction

sit still, lay your hands,

at rest, now

dies the shooting star

About the Creator

Trent Odlin

After getting diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease at the age of fifteen, forcing me out of school and uprooting my life, I spent the majority of the next five years in bed. There, I found writing, and my own style of surreal poetry.
