Ravi worked quickly, stopping the bleeding and bandaging the wound, but Nate’s words lingered.“Shadows,” Jackson muttered, scanning the treeline.“We should turn back,” Marcus said, his voice wavering. “Whatever did this… it’s not natural.”

But Jackson wasn’t ready to abandon the mission. Not yet. They were close, he could feel it, and the pull of the city, whatever secrets it held, was too strong. So, against his better judgment, they pressed on, with Nate being carried in a makeshift stretcher.

As they ventured deeper, the creatures became bolder. They never saw them directly, only fleeting glimpses in the corner of their eyes, but their presence was undeniable.
