Beside him were Grace, a brilliant archaeologist whose keen mind had pieced together what little was known of the lost civilization; Marcus, a geologist obsessed with the idea that the city might be built atop untold riches; and Elena, a survivalist whose skills in navigating uncharted territories had saved them more than once.

They were joined by two others, Ravi, the medic, and a young filmmaker named Nate, eager to document what he hoped would be the discovery of a lifetime.

The first days were uneventful, the forest dense but quiet, save for the occasional distant calls of unseen creatures. The deeper they went, however, the more unnerving the silence became.
