Shadows Abound

Light and Shadow

By Kittiari ClarkPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

Shadows linger ‘round every corner.

Some are kind,

and some are cruel.

They all have something to say.

When my anxiety is high,

they tend to be ruthless.

When I seek refuge within

the Shadows can be sympathetic and friendly.

I have no control over my Shadows.

I am bound and chained

to my dark past.

All the Selves that Disappeared

have their own sob stories.

As for me?

The current Self?

I have my stories too,

but lately I am lost.

A loneliness that continues to grow,

a desperation for companionship,

and the tiniest spark of hope.

Somehow things will change,

though I know not,

how or why.

Am I stronger than my Shadows?

Will my loneliness consume?

I am more than just the Darkness,

For I have my own light too.

Let Hope spark a brighter Light,

That within me will shine and glow.

Maybe then I won’t be lonely,

And the Shadows will leave me alone.
