Fickle felines and irishmen,

dancing in the shadows of the moon,

lunatics

liars

laborers of nightlight

rearranging

corrupting chiaroscuro

until sword swallowers choke

on dusty chunks of darkness

while the fates spin the wheel,

fortune weaving and raveling

in the corner—

Penelope performing,

Perseus juggling atop Medea’s chariot,

an apple pie for Paris

under Athena’s olive tree.

Arachne weaves her web,

the Danaids fetch water,

and Medusa

laughs her head off.
