Shadow on the wall

Shadow

By Brooke RoddyPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The night grew later, as I waited through the night. Listening for your voice or to see your flash light. I hear the sound of shoes, brushing the grass. I remember thinking, "he's home at last." But my hair on my neck stood up in fear. When the shadow on the wall looked nothing like my dear. This shadow's head reached the ceilings light. The shadow of his hand was a humongous sight. When I blinked my eyes and opened them again. The shadow was gone and I lifted my chin. My chin dropped back down as a man walked through my room, he went through the wall, my eyes consumed. I was on edge all night, until my husband was there. The shadow on the wall story, I had to share. When I explained to him about the shadow on the wall. He replied "I only know one man that tall." Replying I said " this man was walking fast like he had somewhere to be." He said " he always walked like that, that was my pawpaw Willie D." Earlier that day I'd said "I wished his grandpa & I could have met." Heaven had heard me and sent my request!
