Shades of You

traces of your light

I trace your laughter drifting on the breeze,

Soft echoes dancing through the twilight air;

Each whisper stirs the silence in the trees,

A song that finds me aching, unaware.

The days move slow, like time itself stands still,

Yet stars above still speak your silent name -

Each one a vow the night begins to fill,

A promise wrapped in ever-burning flame.

I hope you smile where distant skies unfold,

That peace and warmth still find you where you stand.

Though miles divide, my heart cannot be told

To stop its reaching for your unseen hand.

Return to me - let our shadows melt in light,

And I will be home, once you are back in sight.
