Do you tolerate beauty?

By MJ MailPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

They told me that they loved diversity

As the light grey welcomed the lighter grey

And the black blended in with the white

Yet there was little regard for what I had to say

And so came my rainbow plight

Orange laughter and yellow excitement were too bright, too piercing, too loud

Purple thought was too perplexing and blue relaxation just didn’t echo the hustle

I’m too mixed up for this ‘diverse’ crowd, I thought

My palette was challenged; my wings were ruffled

Yet soon I delighted in company

From the 70 people within me

And no longer saw grey as an enemy

But a background to shine upon

She was a sky of luminescent pink clouds

And golden stars

A sparkling sweetheart of sorrowful smiles

Of her heart I am ever proud

And so we are not so alone,

We hue-driven bundles of light

Let us be a body of love and of song

And overcome grey’s rainbow plight
