Shackled souls

Hey, society, cold and unkind,

Won't you release the chains that bind?

As the world whirls on, you cling to the past,

Break free, let progress be cast.

They claim short clothes invite sin,

Yet within, are their minds truly clean?

Who's the sinner, who's the prey?

Perhaps it's the victim they portray.

Amidst blame and illusions thrown,

The victim stands alone.

Oh, society, open your eyes wide,

Let us be, let us decide.

Whose game is it, who's playing?

Is it us or you, who's obeying?

You mould the rules and set it down,

And if she breaks, victim she is found.

Who is the player, who controls?

Not fair, as the tension expands.

Can't you let us find our own way,

Let us carve our own stone, our say.

Calls the West racist,

Oh yes, what are we doing, such a twist?

Being racist against East and South,

To other nations, casting doubt.

Forget they're our brothers and sisters, more than kin,

Oh yes, wake up, it's the twenty-first century in.

In conversation with a girl, society wears a frown,

Parents anxious, spirits weighed down.

A simple chat, misconstrued, misunderstood,

No ties implied, yet judgment stood.

Oh, society blind, heed the situation,

Talking isn't sin, dispel the false equation.

Parental worries fueled by societal eyes,

What will they speak amidst these lies?

O Society, why intervene and care,

Can't you simply mind your own affair?

As the world moves on into the future world,

Thinking was the same as old and old,

Yet, unbothered by society's brink,

In my life, I'll carve my own throne,

Oh, society, let me be, let me own.

Will you leave me be, I beg, won't you own?
