Seven Nuts
Nine Parts
Almonds are like eyes
They can taste like life itself when it’s fine
Skinless they are healthy like the Sun

Brazil nuts are like livers
They can taste like almonds in fever
Selenium’s cavern within stone
-----
Hazelnuts are like hearts
Perhaps the reason why they’re my favourite
Almost bare they fill the heart
-----
Macadamia nuts are like bigger hearts
Hawai’i is automatically attached
Naked they are full of mirth and good fats
-----
Pecans are like little intense brains
They can taste like the Moon after dark
Raw they look like soldiers going to war
-----
Pistachios are like little kidneys
Eat me they almost whisper opening their shells
Starting is easier than ceasing to eat them
-----
Walnuts are like bigger-bent brains
They also taste like life only on a different lane
Ready to be eaten even in a salad

There are of course other nuts
for which I’m not quite nuts
There are nuts and there are nuts
-----
There are also the false nuts
like cashews and peanuts and soy
It’s not the reason I dislike those

A Digital Pandemic.
After a long day in the department, Emily dropped her worn and tired dark leather bag on the counter before navigating through the small and disordered kitchen to grab a cold beer from a contrarily empty fridge. She hadn't had a chance to unpack since moving from Newcastle to Glasgow, let alone shop for sustenance, except for cold brews naturally.
