Snow
Snow falling, the visible magic coating all below it, icing sugar dusting for the human race,
Racing, as we do, but with ease and elegance.
Oh how we should be more snowflake and less human, more snowflake-que, more elegant and easy,
Looking round, all humans rushing, all stressed and unrested,
Missing the moment that will never happen again, a snowflake falling on bystanders noses, wiping furiously as it attempts to distract them from their bright shiny screens for even a second.
Magic reporting itself over and over, only children noticing the prevalence of what should be done,
Tongues stuck out, catching flakes, laughing and jumping on the icing sugar mounds, enjoying the present, no worrying about the world we have created now.
Melting away like snow in the sun rays, children’s tendency to enjoy the small moments gone for now, maybe always.
Growing and learning the ways of society, magic fades into darkness, memories of childish happy days lost in the stress of the mundane day to day.
Why do we not appreciate this magic in the same way? A little smile here, some kindness shared there, adult life cut off from magic, missed mostly by societal pressure to grow from snow to stone, as if almost a grave before falling.
Remember to be a snowflake, I hope us adults relearn - to be free and light, elegant and carry magic to those we are lucky to touch.
Falling down, all through life, we fall slow and steady if we’re lucky with our friends at the same pace, greeting magic once landed - icing sugar finish only, no stone, no grey, no unhappy days, no stress, that’s the best way.
Snowflakes, all of us, magic and unique, not one the same, on the same path, the same weight, the same style or same dates.
