September came like a dream

September came like a dream

As the wind swept across the cold grey sky,

the clouds curled in on themselves with tails like wispy feathers.

September came like a dream on a restless night--

with a painfully slow cooling of Summer,

then a sudden drop into the orange moonlit nights of early autumn.

The sky is colored livid like the skin beneath my eyes,

and my hair, a shade of rich umber, curls in the mistful breeze...

Bewitchingly, the coast has been coated with dense fog

that dances elegantly in the morning sunrise,

and peace washes soon over me like a blanket in the night.
