Self-Love is Comfort

and a little bit of sanity

There is nothing better

than softness of all sorts;

whether it be feline, canine,

or a blanket made of faux fur.

There is nothing better

than cups of liquids;

hot, cold, frozen or melted,

customizable for each and every season.

There is nothing better

than soft vibrations in the air;

music, purring, breathing of a loved one,

so close its as though you've never been apart.

There is nothing better

than themes songs and colored animation;

six fingers, other dimensions,

endless hours of friendship and magic.

There is nothing better

than the silence of the dark;

cicadas scream, crickets chirp,

the voices in my head never ending whispers.

There is nothing better

than the softness of winter;

blankets layered across every inch of the house,

and fairy lights twinkling against the white.

There is nothing better

than a lazy afternoon;

a cup of coffee, a glass of wine,

everything quiet, slowed to a tortoise's pace.

The best thing in the world

are all the things that bring me comfort;

at work, at home, out in the burning world,

no more crazy, my anxiety finally quelled.
