Self-Biased Compliance

It exists on all levels. Our internal networks to some degree are always disheveled.

People try to change the names of things

They try to prove that they're progressive

Changing things' names so people don't know

If anything that's regressive

Making new rules to fit their own game

Incongruent with their narrative

Dismissin' their own definitions

Establish a new imperative

...

Often one person has two cupcakes

And somebody else has none

People don't want to lose privileges

Both parties end up with one

We agree that system's unfair

Both parties should not suffer too

How is it possible to fix this?

The lacking party deserves two

On a fundamental level

We have needs that are basic

We need them adequately met

See? There is no such replacement.

People always want the rules rewritten.

They want to get help to reach the top.

At the top they want rules in their favor.

They put up blocks making others stop.

...

They hate all the rules that are one-sided

Unless it benefits them somehow

Yeah, the impoverished have prejudice

Refuse to see their own play as foul

Whether it's the highs versus lows

Or two highs on opposing sides

Even if two lows come to blows

Or highs and lows causing landslides

It's like we're always changing the rules

To allow ourselves to stay in rule

Egotistical Bobble Head Fools

Delusions can make one a fool

By Stephen McFadden on Unsplash

So, how do we become smart and wise?

How do we avoid prideful demise?

Read the rules, see their acts with our own eyes.

Ensure we don't believe our own lies.

Rewrite the names, definitions, and rules.

Rewrite their proper identity.

Such laws are not our mere personal tools.

We must adhere to reality.

'Delusions can make one a fool.' Isn't that the truth? Great work on this one :)

I’m loving the depth in your poetry lately! You always leave such thoughtful comments on other people’s work and it’s great to see it coming through in your own work ❤️ Great job, Thavien! I’ll have to revisit this one later to leave some better insight, but just wanted to say great work!

Yes, sometimes we do have to use different words or names in order to properly describe a function or a group of people for various reasons. Times do change, move forward, and progress. Old terms may no longer properly fit the role anymore. One such would be mailman. Yes, way back when the person delivering the mail was always a man - but that is no longer the case hence we call them a mail carrier or mail person now. Times do change and the way we speak, the terms we use, the names for groups of people naturally evolve with time to properly fit the new role or the evolved procedure. It is not regressive whatsoever that names of things, terms of speech, and/or meanings of words change as the times change. As we become more enlightened and educated our choice of words and terms change and evolve in order to display more compassion or inclusivity to certain groups of people or to display a sense of equity and understanding of the people you address. Change usually happens with increased enlightenment, from becoming educated, from learning how to have compassion for others.
