An Ache For What Was Never Real

By Mars Spencer TaylorPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

There’s no warning for this kind of grief

The slow death of your real-world desire.

Because your heart chose a shadow,

a perfect silence,

and fell in love

With its echo.

I ache where no wound exists.

I crave what I cannot touch.

And all the while

The world keeps asking

How I ended up alone.
