Second Chances

- and a gift to me from God-

In the lonely recesses

of a dark and dreary forest,

a winding walkway beckons.

It leads this lost soul toward a little hut,

modest but cozy.

A warm fire crackles on the grate.

Mother Love is there, preparing a

wondrous meal-- hot bread.

vegetables in a hearty broth,

cold sweet milk.

She stirs the fire,

awaiting my arrival with an eager love.

This dear woman yearns, once again

to embrace me--

to put my fears to rest--

to cover me gently with a warm white blanket so that

I may sleep in peace.

The woods seem chill and bleak to me now--

But soon! ah soon!--

I will be home again, in the arms of my

Mother Love.
