Why Some Friendships are Meant to Fade

Once-close friends gradually drift apart.

Would you ask them why?

In the past, I would have wanted to know. I will do my best to meet their expectations and fulfill their requests to restore the friendship. Later, I realized that friends who are meant to drift apart will eventually do so.

Now, I don’t ask anymore. I accept the estrangement.

It’s not that I don’t care; it’s just that I understand this close relationship has come to an end. It’s not necessarily because something happened, nor is it because anyone did anything wrong. It’s simply that changes in life, values, and mindset made it uncomfortable for us to be together. As the contact gradually fades, I bid a silent farewell in my heart.

It’s enough to know that we are both doing well. At different stages of life, some people come closer, and some drift away. Cherish the time when you are close, and be grateful for the encounter when you drift apart.
